Drinking water may not seem like an obvious way to prevent back pain, but if we look at the big picture, increasing our water intake to recommended levels (drink an 8 oz glass of water 8 times every day), we’ll almost certainly feel the benefits — including in our backs and spines.
3. Get plenty of exercise
Being cooped up in an office all day can make it easy to develop back problems. Planned breaks and intervals involving light stretching and exercise can make a big difference. A huge number of patients with chronic back pain are actually not engaging in enough physical activity.
4. Improve your seated posture
Sitting up straight may be easier said than done, especially if you’ve got a million other things to think about. But consciously improving your seated posture is one of the very best ways to keep your back in good condition on a daily basis, and avoid that stiffness and pain that develops from hours of slouching.
